The beginning

So this is the beginning of thugmed. We gave birth to the idea about a month ago, let me tell you guys how it came about. So over dinner one night, N-thug and S-thug were having a mature conversation with Lil Wayne playing in the background when we realised that we had all these notes that we had created over the past two years just sitting on our hard drive. Why not share these notes with all the other med students out there? Why not create a website where we can blog about our experiences, teach people, and make life generally better for med students everywhere? Pretty noble…. But as is the course with most ideas, we got really excited about it, promised that we would make the idea a reality…. and then the conversation ended.

At 1 am that night, as N-thug was going to bed after watching an episode of Entourage, he realised that if they didn’t actually act on their idea that night, then as with most great plans it would just amount to nothing. So he ran through to S-thug’s bedroom and started banging on his door. When S-thug got his lazy @&* out of bed and answered the door, N-thug said: “We’re starting…. right now.”

So as they were searching for domain names that were available they went through the most obvious choices: mednotes.com, passmed, eazymedschool, etc…. All of which were pathetically generic. We were getting tired and losing motivation again. So we put on our motivational speaker 50 Cent – Just a lil bit. And then the name came to S-thug as he was holding his bling wishing it was real: THUGMED. At which point N-thug contributed: Cuz you gotta be street.
